~Western Japan local trip Ep.21 “Kyoto / Uji”~

〜宇治〜
~Uji~

大阪からの移動を終え、13時半に京阪 宇治駅に到着。
After moving from Osaka, I arrived at Keihan Uji Station at 1:30 PM.

バックパックを駅のロッカーに預け、世界遺産の平等院 鳳凰堂へ向けて出発です。
Leave my backpack in the locker at the station and leave for the World Heritage Byodoin Phoenix Hall.

京阪 宇治駅は落ち着いた雰囲気で、大阪の街とは違う京都らしさを感じました。
Keihan Uji Station has a classic atmosphere, and I felt that it was Kyoto, which is different from the city of Osaka.

駅を出てすぐに一級河川の宇治川が流れております。
Immediately after leaving the station, the Uji River, a first-class river, flows.

奥に見えている橋を渡り平等院へと向かいます。
Cross the bridge in the back and head for Byodo-in Temple.

宇治川の橋からの眺め。天気も良く、空気も澄んで、気温も穏やかでした。
View from the bridge of the Uji River. The weather was nice, the air was clear, and the temperature was mild.

橋を渡り切った左手に鳥居が現れます。この鳥居の先が平等院への表参道となります。
A torii will appear on left after crossing the bridge. The tip of this torii is the Omotesando to Byodo-in Temple.

参道の手前に紫式部ゆかりの夢浮橋の古跡がありましたので寄ってみます。
There was a historic site of Yume no Ukihashi, which is related to Murasaki Shikibu, in front of the approach, so I will stop by.

源氏物語の著者で知られる紫式部の像。やはり書物を携えていました。
A statue of Murasaki Shikibu known as the author of The Tale of Genji. She had still a book.

紫式部像の右隣には明治天皇が宇治にお泊まりになられた時の記念の石碑がありました。
To the right of the Statue of Murasaki Shikibu, there was a stone monument commemorating the time when Emperor Meiji stayed in Uji.

さて寄り道はこの辺にしまして、平等院へと向かいます。
By the way, the detour is around here and heads to Byodo-in Temple.

〜平等院〜
~Byodo-in Temple~

表参道を進むとすぐに入口らしき広場が見えてまいりました。
As soon as I went on Omotesando, I saw a plaza that looked like an entrance.

正門までの広場を少し進むと石碑があります。
Walk a little along the square to the main gate, I found a stone monument.

明治時代に行われた第一回 製茶共進会という大会で優勝したことを記念しての石碑だそうです。
It is said to be a stone monument commemorating the victory in the first tea-making co-promotion event held in the Meiji era.

その近くには宇治茶の老舗「辻利」の創業者である辻利右衛門の銅像があります。
Nearby is the statue of Riemon Tsuji, the founder of the long-established Uji tea shop Tsujiri.

さて、それでは平等院の正門から中へと入って行きます。
Well then, let’s go inside from the main gate of Byodo-in Temple.

正門を潜り抜けた途端に凛とした空気が漂います。なんとも厳かな気持ちにさせてもらえました。
When I passed through the main gate, there was a dignified air. It made me feel very solemn.

〜鳳凰堂〜
~Phoenix Hall~

正門を抜け歩いていくと、すぐ目の前に平等院 鳳凰堂が現れます。
As I walked through the main gate, Byodoin Phoenix Hall appeared in front of me.

日本の10円玉の絵でもお馴染みですが、実物は息をのむほどの美しさでした。
It is familiar as a picture of a Japanese 10-yen coin, but the real thing was breathtakingly beautiful.

周囲の堀池に桜の花びらが舞い散り、雅な空間をより一層と演出していました。
Cherry blossom petals were scattered in the surrounding Horiike, creating an even more elegant space.

桜が見頃を迎えており、最高の景観でした。
The cherry blossoms are in full bloom and it was the best view.

瓦屋根の上に鳳凰がおります。
There is a phoenix on the tiled roof.

残念なことに鳳凰堂の内部での写真撮影は禁じられておりました。
Unfortunately, photography inside the Phoenix Hall was prohibited.

そして鳳凰堂の側にあるミュージアムに入り、仏教の世界観を堪能してまいりました。
Then, I entered the museum on the side of the Phoenix Hall and enjoyed the world view of Buddhism.

ミュージアムでも内部の写真は禁止でしたので、こちらは中庭の写真です。
Even in the museum, it was prohibited to take pictures of the inside, so this is a picture of the courtyard.

平等院の梵鐘は鳳凰堂が建てられた年代と同時期に作られているそうです。
Byodo-in bells are said to have been made around the same time as the Phoenix Hall was built.

本当に素晴らしいほど美しいお寺でした。内部の壁画や天井など仏教における価値観のひとつ三千世界を堪能できたのが素晴らしかったです。
It was a wonderfully beautiful temple, and it was wonderful to be able to enjoy one of the three thousand worlds of Buddhist values ​​such as the mural paintings and ceilings inside.

〜表参道〜

平等院の観光を終え、表参道のお茶屋さん山田園茶舗で小休憩。
After sightseeing at Byodo-in Temple, take a short break at Yamadaen Tea Stall, a teahouse in Omotesando.

ちょうど良く冷えた抹茶が、なんと50円で飲めました。美味しかったです。
I was able to drink matcha that had just cooled down for 50 yen. It was delicious.

表参道から京阪 宇治駅へ戻り、預けていた荷物を取り出してJR宇治駅へと向かいます。
Return to Keihan Uji Station from Omotesando, take out my luggage and head to JR Uji Station.

宇治駅前には可愛らしいお茶壷の形をした郵便ポストがありました。
In front of Uji station, there was a mailbox in the shape of a cute tea pot.

次回は伏見神社、そして京都駅へと向かいます。どんな旅が待っているでしょうか。
